So I haven't blogged for a while because I've been crazy busy with packing and unpacking, and moving into my new house for my second year of uni. I lived in Halls last year which proved expensive and not great. I'm glad I spent my first year that way but I feel like I will be much happier sharing a house with close friends.
This year, I'm in a little three-bed terrace close to campus. We have a lovely kitchen, bathroom and living/dining room and its super cute! We all have double bedrooms and its well maintained. I have higher hopes for second year than first year as I faced a lot of personal struggles last year which I feel were partially down to living with people I barely knew, And, aside from a dismal kitchen, I was confined to a single room. It took me a good few weeks to settle last year and after only 4 days of living in my new house, I feel very much at home. This is my new bedroom which I have made as personal and homely as I possibly could:
Academic wise, I also feel more prepared this year. I've settled into uni life, I know the course well and its requirements and I'm also doing option modules which I have a personal interest in, so I should hopefully enjoy them and therefore excel at my course. I also have fewer contact hours, so although this means more work at home, I feel that having more free time gives me the chance to be more organised and structure my life so that I can have hobbies as well as completing work.
First year of uni was brilliant, and it didn't count to the grade of my overall degree. Despite this, I still worked hard (too hard) and had a lot of struggles. I feel really optimistic about second year as I'm much happier than I was even just six months ago. Here's to a year of health, happiness and my house!
