I was wondering what to write about for my next blog post, and as I moved back to York a few days ago after a busy Christmas, I thought what better than to write about York. You know, the beautiful historic city that I live and study in. I honestly could not think of a better place to do my degree! I mean yeah, it's prone to flooding, which is really sad, but there are so many positives about this amazing place.
Firstly, we have the minster:
Here it is, in all its glory. I love walking the city walls in York, the views of the minster are perfect, especially when the sun hits it like it did in this photo! I also love seeing it poking through the trees. Its such an iconic part of the city and I love the shambles and touristy shops nearby. It makes me feel like I live in a holiday destination (just without the sun).
We also have cute little historic things like these:
I love this old building and clock on Coney Street, just tucked away between all the shops and hustle bustle of everyday contemporary life, its such a picturesque and refreshing sight.
There's so much to see and do:
I love walking down by the river, and in the park by the train station. There's so many nice things to see and do: The castle museum; the Jorvik centre; the railway museum; ghost walks; walking by the river; walking the walls; and of course all the bars and nightlife you will ever need. I'd be happy living here for the rest of my life.
I really love living in York and I could honestly not think of a better city to be doing my degree in. It's lovely and close-knit, the city center is within walking distance from my house. On the downside, York has two rivers and is therefore prone to flooding, having had severe floods on boxing day of 2015. But it has turned itself around so quickly and is back open for business!
If you're planning to venture to the North of England to visit York. I'd massively recommend it, you will not regret it!!
