Eliza & The Bear Tour

This blog post is well overdue as I've been quite ill, but I've had all the more time to think about it! On February 15th, I went to see Eliza and the Bear on tour in York. They were absolutely fantastic. I've seen a few people live before (including E&TB at my uni's summer ball last year) but I'd never actually been to a proper gig before this one. At the age of 20, it seems so old to have never been to see someone on tour, but I can tell you it was 100% worth the wait.

Let's start with the supporting acts, neither of whom I'd previously heard of. Michael Cassidy opened the show and he was wonderful! I loved the style of his music - him & his acoustic guitar, and I love the tones in his voice and how his accent came through in his singing. Following Michael Cassidy, Into the Ark came to the stage and sung their hearts out. I loved this duo, they rocked the stage and had an accordion going as well! I bought their CD when I left!

Then Eliza and the Bear came on and sung the roof off! We were lucky to be right at the front by the stage, and I could even see the song sheet on the stage floor! They opened up with Lion's Heart, which was the perfect song to kick off the gig with! I was singing along to every song (well, the ones I knew, which was most) and when we met James (the lead singer) at the end, he said "oh you were in the middle singing along?!" It was flattering to be recognised and just goes to show that these are really genuine guys who notice their fans and stay around to meet us at the end of a gig!

At one point (I can't remember which song), the guys asked us to hold up lighters or the torches on our phones, and it was magical. I could not stop smiling all night. Towards the end, we were informed that they were going to pretend it was their last song, then leave the stage and we'd all have to chant for them to come back, then they'd sing Friends and It Gets Cold. They also dedicated It Gets Cold to Viola Beach, a band who unfortunately passed away in February. That was really touching.

Since the gig, the guys have messaged me on Twitter to thank me for going along, which was really kind of them. I've also pre-ordered their album, and I've never pre-ordered anyone's album before, I can't wait for it to come out! Honestly though, if you're wanting to go to a gig, please go and see Eliza and the Bear, they were utterly incredible.

Thanks for reading, peace and love xo
