Album Review: The 1975 - I Like it When You Sleep, for You Are so Beautiful Yet so Unaware of it

That's a bit of a mouthful, but even the long title of the 1975's second album intregues me. It's been out for a while now, and I must have listened to it about 200 times already considering it's been playing non-stop since I downloaded it. The reason I've left the blog post till now is because I really wanted to familiarise myself with it, I wanted to get to know the songs and their lyrics and basslines inside out so that I could do the best review I possibly could.

Much like their first album, The 1975 have yet again produced something that just keeps getting better and better every time you listen to it. The opening track is named The 1975, which is similar to the same titled song on their first album, but better. They've kept the lyrics and altered the tune and rythm to fit in with their newer sound and I love it.

Their singles Love Me, The Sound, UGH and Somebody Else are all on the album and in my opinion, the order of the tracks and where these songs fit in could not have been chosen any better, it is perfect. The tone alters throughout whilst at the same time having variation between their more upbeat tunes and their softer pieces.

The Ballad of Me and My Brain is honestly my favourite song in the world right now, Matty's energy really comes across with the perfection of his voice and you can tell how much he really loves his job! The only issue with this song, in my opinion, is that it's too short. It doesn't last long enough so I end up going back and repeating it over and over again. Another highlight from the album is This Must be My Dream, it's so so catchy and puts an instant smile on my face, although I probably had a smile anyway if I was listening to the album.

The 1975 have been my favourite band for about 3 years now and I'm completely obsessed with them. I'm yet to see them live (that's my goal for their next tour) but their new album far exceeds my expectations! Go give it a listen on Spotify or get it downloaded, it's well worth a purchase!!

Thank you for reading, peace and love xo
