Bank Holiday in the Lake District

Its no secret that the Lake District is one of my favourite places in this world. Read my blog post all about why here. This May bank holiday, I once again ventured to the beautiful national park with my family.

On the Sunday, myself, my parents, and my Auntie and Uncle, accompanied by three labradors, went for a lovely walk. We walked to Boredale Hause, before venturing onto the peaks of Beda Fell. The views of lake Ullswater from here were incredible. The walk was lovely and the weather was beautiful and sunny. After Beda Fell, we dropped down into the valley and joined onto the lake walk around ullswater, totalling a 7 hour walk.

After our walk, we arrived back at our destination, the White Lion Inn. We have stayed in the White Lion on many occasions, and this time did not disappoint. My cousin and my other Auntie and Uncle joined us for the evening meal. I had the most delicious steak and chips and it was lovely to spend time with extended family and have a well needed catch up.

The following day, we visited my Auntie and Uncle's cottage, where they kindly prepared a delicious buffet lunch for us. It was a rainy day and we were all exhausted so we didn't walk out, we stayed in, ate and chatted all day, before venturing back home late afternoon.

Overall, I had a wonderful bank holiday weekend with extended family in the lakes. I did really enjoy Beda Fell, which I had never done before, but in hindsight I think it was too much for one hot day to join onto the lake walk and however much I would recommend both walks, I would suggest doing them on different days, unless you are a very experienced walker. That said, it was a beautiful walk, the weather was nice and I had a wonderful and relaxing time in my favourite place.
