New Yoga Class - First Impressions

Hello Lovely Dreamers!

I have just started a new weekly Yoga class in my hometown and thought I would make a first impressions blog post all about it! I didn't know what to expect from the class, I knew yoga was amazing but I was unaware what style it would be, how advanced it would be, how large a class it would be, whether there would be background music. I know these questions are silly, all yoga is wonderful and makes me grateful for my life. But for some reason, I did not think this class would fulfil my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm ashamed to admit that I am one of those yogis who really struggles to be self-motivated and thus, I have fallen out of practice ever so slightly as a result of finishing uni and having no classes to go to. I am so glad that I now have this class as a fixed routine in my life, a place to go to each week to unwind and let go of all of my Monday worries. I think the main reasons for my hesitation were because I was very happy with the classes I had back at uni, and for some reason, despite having written recent blog posts about Letting Go and Embracing Change, my anxiety is still very reluctant to accept any challenges to my comfort zone. So my mind decided that no yoga class could possibly be as good as any I have been to before.

Luckily, my mind was wrong and I loved every minute of this yoga class. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, the background music was calming and the yoga itself was exactly what I needed.

The style of yoga was very gentle, it reminded me a lot of Hatha Yoga or Ananda Yoga. We focused significantly on our breathing, working through lying, seated, standing and balance postures before the most relaxing meditative Savasana you could wish for. I was feeling a little lost before my class, but attending has reminded me that no matter what, yoga always has my back.

Thank you so much for reading, peace and love xo
